THE SCIENCE:
Air purifying method for PO2R and energy source
An intake and exhaust fan channel air containing pollutants
such as CO2 into the lithium peroxide canisters inside the PO2R
bracelet and expel oxygen for the consumer to breathe. Lithium peroxide (2LiOH)
is stored inside these canisters in a powdered state. When exposed to CO2,
a chemical reaction occurs with 2LiOH that releases oxygen and lithium
carbonate as a by-product. The released oxygen is channeled out via an exhaust
fan for breathing. Once the lithium canister is used up, it must be replaced.
Water-activated batteries are the main source of power to
operate the intake and exhaust fan. The batteries consist of a powdered carbon
capacitor. When moistened by water, it creates a current that provides the same
energy output as an alkaline battery with 1/10th the cost and
considerably minimalized waste.
